Join us for a special wellness event designed for seniors and caregivers. This workshop offers practical tools and uplifting experiences to support the body, mind, and spirit. Lunch will be provided.
π΅ Tuning In: Immersive Music & Mindfulness
This session will explore evidence-based approaches to music, mindfulness, and intuitive movement in supporting relaxation, reducing stress, managing pain, and promoting interpersonal connection for seniors and caregivers alike. Michaela will speak to themany ways music and mindfulness may support wellbeing across the domains of cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health. Participants will be invited into a playful and engaging group singing process to promote self-expression and community collaboration. The session will close with a guided mindfulness experience, using deepbreathing, gentle seated movement (all abilities welcome), and live soothing sounds to cultivate calm awareness and ease.

Michaela Bekenn (she/they) is a certified sound therapy practitioner, yoga instructor, meditation guide, and singer-songwriter based in Tkaronto (Toronto). She is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and holds a Masters Degree in Music Therapy. Michaela is committed to upholding an approach to care that is anti-racist, anti-oppressive, trauma- informed, client-centered, and 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming. She is a certified facilitator of Compassion-Based Resilience Training and mindfulness for stress reduction, addiction recovery, and chronic pain. With an interdisciplinary background in theatre, music, dance, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Michaela brings a holistic, intuitive, and playful energy to her work. She supports people across the lifespan within settings such as community centres, mental health care, oncology, palliative care, long-term care, paediatric rehabilitation, and expressive arts for neurodiverse youth and adults. Michaela is passionate for integrative approaches to health, rooted in community and anchored within a framework of social justice and collective liberation. Michaela strives to create a welcoming space for folks of all identities to feel supported and nourished.
